Banksy, An amazing Street Artist
Street art is very popular nowadays. One of my favorite street artists is Banksy. Banksy is a British street artist with an international reputation about his work. He goes around leaving art pieces on walls, floors and buildings. He is always disguised and running away from the cops. To him Graffiti is not the lowest form of art, it is the most honest form there is. One of Banksy's projects was the Segregation of the West bank Wall in Palestine. In August 2005, Banksy, on a trip to the Palestinian territories, created nine images on the Israeli West Bank barrier. Banksy's feelings about the barrier are made explicit in a statement which says the wall "essentially turns Palestine into the world's largest open prison." Indicating why he undertook the trip from London, where he made his name as a 'guerilla' artist, Banksy's website says the West Bank barrier is "the ultimate activity holiday destination for graffiti writers". During the visit to Ramallah and surrounding areas, Banksy reports some tense moments. His spokeswoman Jo Brooks said: "The Israeli security forces did shoot in the air threateningly and there were quite a few guns pointed at him." Banksy put his life at risk to go and leave his name and work on the west bank wall. It was important to him to send a message through his work. His message besides being sarcastic and ironic, was to show that Palestine has become the world's largest open prison. Below, are  images of this project that show Banksy's style of street art.
